Acara Solutions is seeking an EHS Manager to join our client on a Temp to Hire opportunity located in Plattsburgh NY

Starting Pay rate: $41/hr.
Onsite role
Shift: M-F, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Duration: 6 month contract with potential for permanent conversion.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure/provide a safe and healthy environment for people and contractors.
  • Minimize environmental impact and manage historical pollution.
  • Protect assets and reduce fire and natural catastrophe risks.
  • Support Site Management in achieving EHS performance.
  • Implement EHS policy according to guidelines and targets.
  • Advise and support operational management in EHS actions.
  • Prepare and deploy the local yearly EHS plan.
  • Ensure EHS Risk Assessment is done and risks are controlled.
  • Prepare, implement, and maintain emergency plans.
  • Control subcontractor activities regarding EHS.
  • Authority to stop activities posing immediate high risk.
  • Lead the EHS function on site.
  • Monitor, coach, and develop the EHS team.
  • Conduct induction programs for new EHS staff.
  • Involve social and medical partners in EHS communication.
  • Develop and maintain the Site EHS Management System.
  • Monitor compliance with statutory, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Maintain records and documentation.
  • Monitor historical pollution and associated risks.
  • Develop EHS culture and facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and implement EHS training and communication plans.
  • Report, measure, and review EHS performance.
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelors in Engineering
  • 5 yrs. minimum experience as an EHS Manager in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO45001.
  • Certification in EHS preferred.
  • Understanding of local legal requirements.
  • Teamwork and leadership.
  • Initiative and action-driven.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and rigor.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement tools.
